Loudoun Students Named Merit Semifinalists
- The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) honored more than 100 Loudoun County Public Schools students last week. Of those students, 18 were named semi-finalists for the National Merit Scholarship, three were named National Hispanic Scholars, two were named National Achievement Scholarship semifinalists, and 91 others were named Commended Students by the NMSC.
All 10 Loudoun County high schools were represented on the honor roll, along with Loudoun students who attend Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Fairfax, which is a Governor’s Regional Magnate School.

Poisson pushes for autism help
- Del. David Poisson (D-Loudoun) Monday led a delegation of Loudoun County parents and children to Richmond to testify before the Special Advisory Commission on Mandated Health Insurance Benefits in favor of legislation requiring insurers to cover treatment for children with autism.
Along with Del. Bob Marshall (R-Dulles south), Poisson has introduced a bill to require health insurers, health care subscription plans, and health maintenance organizations to provide coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of autism, subject to an annual maximum benefit of $36,000.
